Gift In A Jar

Below you will find the recipe to the Gift in a Jar that we did for RS on Thursday.  We had a great time and enjoyed your company.  Have a great week!

1 1/2 C all-purpose flour
1 C jpacked light brown sugar
3/4 C candy-coated chocolate pieces
1/2 C salted peanuts, coarsely chopped
1/2 C raisins
1/4 C unsweetened cocoa powder
3/4 t baking soda
1/4 t salt.

1. Layer ingredients attractively in any order into 1-quart food storage jar with tight fitting lid.  Pack ingredients down slightly before adding another layer.
2. Cover top of jar with fabric; attach gift tag with raffia or ribbon.  Makes 1 quart jar


Your tag on how to bake the cookies could be printed up on a label and put on the side of the jar, or printed out and tied with raffia.  Here are the directions for your tag:

Super Chocolate Cookies

2/3 C butter, softened
2 eggs
1 1/2t vanilla
1 jar Super Chocolate Cookies Mix

1. Preheat oven to 350F.
2. Beat butter in large bowl until smooth.  Beat in eggs and vanilla until blended.  (Mixture may appear curdled.).  Add cookie mix to butter mixture; stir until well blended.3. Drop heaping tablespoonfuls dough2 inches apart onto ungreased cookie sheets.  Bake 11-12 minutes or until almost set.  Let cookies stand on cookie sheets 2 minutes.  remove cookies to wire racks to cool completely.  Makes 2 dozen.
